Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham must earn job

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham must earn a starting role in 2016, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. ‘How effective is he out here, first? And then we get into these preseason games, see how much we can load him up. We also know we’ve got some other options too that will be competing with him. So it’s not a for sure he’s lining up at ‘X’ for us on opening Sunday. They’ve got to earn it.’ Last week was Green-Beckham’s first ‘full go’ week while dealing with a hamstring problem that has been a problem for years.

Steelers | Markus Wheaton confident he’ll make impact

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton, who finished last year with 44 catches and five touchdowns, thinks he and QB Ben Roethlisberger developed enough chemistry to move forward and have a better season in 2016. ‘We got on the same page as the season went on,’ said Wheaton, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract. ‘We learned how to communicate with each other, more so me communicating with him and giving him what he wants. I’m learning how to just be who I need to be when it comes to what Ben wants me to be.’

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry can improve

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry averaged just 10.5 yards per catch last year, which was ranked 105th in the league out of qualifying receivers. Only 10 of his 110 catches (9%) went for 20 yards or more in 2015. New head coach Adam Gase will try to put Landry in a position to make more big plays this year. Landry also had just four receiving touchdowns last year despite being targeted 165 times in the red zone, which was sixth most in the league. Miami plans to keep Landry fresh by reducing his role on special teams as well. He returned 49 kickoffs and punts in 2015.
