Bears | Marquess Wilson could start on PUP list

Chicago Bears WR Marquess Wilson (foot) is expected to begin the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. Wilson would not be eligible to return until Week 6 if he is placed on the PUP list to start the season. WRs Josh Bellamy and Cameron Meredith were the first two names mentioned by Biggs who could play more if Wilson is sidelined.

Footballguys View: Bellamy is a core special teamer who could get more playing time with Wilson out. If there’s any fantasy overflow to have here, it will more likely fall to tight end Zach Miller or slot receiver Eddie Royal. Seventh round pick Daniel Braverman could buy a temporary roster spot if Wilson starts the year on the PUP.

Patriots | Donald Brown embracing opportunity

New England Patriots RB Donald Brown led all running backs with 19 receptions in Patriots minicamp, and he is taking advantage of the opportunity to contribute in any way possible. His most likely path to a role is as the top backup to RB LeGarrette Blount. Brown is not considered a lock to make the team, according to Mark Daniels, of the Providence Journal. New England would carry a $300,000 salary cap charge if Brown is released.
