Broncos | Demaryius Thomas fell behind last year

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he was thinking too much last season. Thomas missed a good portion of the 2015 offseason program while waiting for a long-term deal and his mother was set to be released from prison. Thomas said it was tough trying to catch up with the new offense after missing so much time and with his off-field life.

Footballguys View: Thomas was the team’s franchise player last year and it took right until the July 15th deadline to get him signed. He’s in year two of the Gary Kubiak system, but in this balanced (leaning towards run-heavy) system we see Thomas as a WR2 for fantasy owners.

Ravens | Michael Campanaro man not make team

Baltimore Ravens WR Michael Campanaro (calf) is at risk of not making the final roster if he cannot stay on the field during training camp, according to The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec. Campanaro missed most of last season with a back injury and is now dealing with a calf injury.

Footballguys View: Campanaro was a seventh-round pick in 2014, and he’s running out of time to make a positive impression. Back and thigh problems have limited him to just eight games as a pro. With addition like Mike Wallace (free agency) and Keenan Reynolds (draft) this offseason, the Ravens may not have a spot for Campanaro in 2016.

Ravens | Dennis Pitta can still contribute

Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) has looked good, is moving well and is still capable of being a significant contributor, in the opinion of The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec.

Footballguys View: We’d like to believe that is possible, but the Ravens are stacked at the position and there may not be a role for Pitta if he’s able to make the team. Ben Watson was added in free agency, and he should be the leader at TE in 2016. Second-year pro Maxx Williams will also start to play a larger role this year.

Ravens | Trent Richardson considered a long shot

Baltimore Ravens RB Trent Richardson (knee) is a long shot to make the 53-man roster, in the opinion of ESPN.com’s Jamison Hensley.

Footballguys View: No surprise here. Richardson has a new focus as he stares at a future that doesn’t include football. The 3rd-overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft has bounced around the league and been one of the biggest busts in NFL draft history. He had a sore hamstring in minicamp, and now it’s been revealed that Richardson needs arthroscopic surgery for a preexisting injury to his knee. We’d be shocked if he makes the Ravens 53-man roster.
