Lions | Andre Roberts will be moved around

Detroit Lions WR Andre Roberts said he will be used as an outside receiver as well as a slot receiver during the preseason. He may also receive a chance to compete for the punt returner job.

Footballguys View: The Lions must not have been happy with some of the reserve WRs in place as they signed Roberts recently. He’s a speedy veteran who doesn’t have much fantasy value–even if he is involved as a return man. We see the Lions peppering WRs Golden Tate and Marvin Jones as much as possible. There’s talk about using TE Eric Ebron more as a receiver and RB Theo Riddick could catch 60 or so passes. That doesn’t leave a lot for Roberts (or any other receiver).

Seahawks | Change in offense aided Russell Wilson

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson threw 24 touchdowns and one interception in the last seven games after the offense shifted to emphasize quicker passes, timing routes and spread formations. He was sacked 31 times in the first seven games and just 15 times in the last nine games as getting rid of the ball quickly helped negate struggles on the offensive line. Head coach Pete Carroll said to expect more of that in 2016.

Rams | Prepared to be without RB Tre Mason

The Los Angeles Rams are prepared to be without third-year RB Tre Mason according to Los Angeles Daily News writer Jack Wang. Head coach Jeff Fisher said at a recent minicamp that the team had to “prepare ourselves that Tre’s not going to be here.” Mason has missed all offseason workouts since his March arrest on drug and traffic charges.

Footballguys View: Aside from superstar starter Todd Gurley and Mason, the Rams have no other drafted back on the roster. Benny Cunningham, Aaron Green, Malcolm Brown, Chase Reynolds, and Trey Watts were all college free agents. Behind the workhorse Gurley, Cunningham should be at the top of the depth chart. However, 2015 UDFA Malcolm Brown is a player we have an appreciation for. Brown can wear down defenses and at 225 pounds he’s tough to bring down with a head of steam. Dynasty owners should be monitoring these backs to see how things shake out.
