Seahawks | Tyler Lockett growing as receiver

Seattle Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett is growing as a receiver and has improved on getting better releases off the line of scrimmage, according to WR Doug Baldwin. ‘He’s so quick and he’s so fast that there’s no reason for guys to be able to put their hands on him at the line of scrimmage,’ Baldwin said. Lockett caught 51 passes (second on the team) for 664 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie year.

Titans | Dexter McCluster will have opportunities

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster thinks he’ll have plenty of opportunities to make noise in the backfield even with RBs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry ahead of him. ‘I think it will open up a lot more opportunities for me,’ said the 5-8, 170-pound McCluster. ‘When you have some big guys that are going to run downhill, that can cause more confusion to a lot of people. I hope (defenses) forget all about me and I can get open.’ McCluster has a versatile skill set and can also help on special teams returning punts.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers, others excused

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and other select veterans have been excused from mandatory minicamp this week by head coach Mike McCarthy. WRs Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson were also included in that group. ‘The approach is different than the past,’ McCarthy said. ‘So, it’s obviously tailored toward the younger players.’ QB Brett Hundley will get most of the work with what is left of the No. 1 offense.
