Cowboys | Darren McFadden story revised
Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (elbow) said he was injured in a slightly different way than the team, who said McFadden was injured trying to save his cell phone, released to the public. McFadden said his phone was in his hand, but he slipped down and fell on the elbow. He said he still has a few weeks in a brace after June 14 surgery, and it’s possible he could miss the season opener.

Cowboys | Jaylon Smith’s nerve hasn’t improved
Dallas Cowboys LB Jaylon Smith (knee) hasn’t experienced significant improvement in the injured nerve in his knee, and playing in 2016 seems unlikely.
Titans | Justin Hunter fighting for a spot
Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter is entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract. He has yet to record 30 catches or more than 500 yards receiving in a season, and each of his past two years have been cut short by injury. It’s likely he’ll be fighting for the No. 5 receiver job with WR Harry Douglas.

Tennessee Titans WR Harry Douglas has a long history with head coach Mike Mularkey and offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie from their days together with the Atlanta Falcons. Despite that, a spot on the 53-man final roster is not guaranteed. Despite his leadership during the spring practices, it is believed Douglas will be battling WR Justin Hunter for the fifth receiver spot.
NFL | Preston Parker gets three years probation
Free-agent WR Preston Parker (Giants) received three years of probation after pleading guilty to drug charges Tuesday, June 28. He is hopeful of resuming his NFL career at some point.
Chiefs | Young WRs working with Jeremy Maclin
Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin invited WR Chris Conley to work out with him at the team’s training facility in the offseason. WR Albert Wilson joined them to lift weights, watch film and work on route concepts four days a week until the team’s offseason workout program in mid-April. Conley and Wilson are the team’s No. 2 and 3 receivers, and trying to hold off newcomers WR Rod Streater and WR Tyreek Hill.
Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson to work harder
Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson has earned the praise of head coach Mike Zimmer this offseason, as Zimmer has lauded Patterson’s work ethic and improved route running. Patterson plans to work out for a week or two in Florida with QB Teddy Bridgewater, and he might go to San Francisco for additional conditioning work.
Seahawks | Tarvaris Jackson unlikely to return
Free-agent QB Tarvaris Jackson (Seahawks) is not expected to re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks after serving as the backup there for the past three years. The team has QBs Trevone Boykin and Jake Heaps on the roster as backups to starting QB Russell Wilson.
