Giants | Orleans Darkwa playing catch-up

New York Giants RB Orleans Darkwa (leg) missed the entire spring practice sessions due to a lower leg injury, and that set him back in the pecking order among the team’s tailbacks. He is expected to battle RB Andre Williams for the No. 3 job, while RB Bobby Rainey is also in the mix. The team invested a fifth round pick on RB Paul Perkins, so he is expected to make the team, too.

Texans | Ryan Griffin provides versatility

Houston Texans TE Ryan Griffin isn’t a one-dimensional tight end, according to tight ends coach John Perry. ‘He can be effective in the pass game. He can be effective as a blocker,’ Perry said. ‘You need to bridge that gap like you’re a great blocking tight end and a great receiving tight end, to have a bridge guy helps you as an offense to be more effective.’

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin signs extension

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin signed a four-year contract extension through 2020 Tuesday, June 28, according to a source. The deal is worth more than $11 million per year.

Footballguys View: It’s a fair price for Baldwin as he’s now paid like a top-level, second-tier receiver. He came through in a big way for the Seahawks last year, and Baldwin has clearly earned the trust of QB Russell Wilson. Fantasy owners should recognize that it will be difficult to duplicate the 14 TDs that made him the 7th-best fantasy WR in 2015. However, he could still put up WR2 numbers and has WR1 upside in certain matchups. His current ADP is WR24 (4.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown under the radar

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown finished the 2015 season with 1,003 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.

Footballguys View: We don’t think he’s under the radar, but instead a player that wise fantasy owners are dialed in on. The Cardinals passing attack is the most vertical in the league, and Brown is the player who takes the top off the defense regularly. We see him as a WR3 with every week starters upside as a flex play at least. Brown has a current ADP of WR35 (7.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Seahawks | Jeff Fuller waived/injured

Seattle Seahawks WR Jeff Fuller (undisclosed) was waived/injured from the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, June 28.

Footballguys View: Undrafted out of Texas A&M in 2012, Fuller has spent time with the Seahawks, Miami Dolphins and he’s played in Canada for the Calgary Stampeders. He signed with Seattle back in February but doesn’t even make it to training camp with an undisclosed injury.

Giants | Andre Williams fighting for spot?

New York Giants RBs Andre Williams and Orleans Darkwa are likely competing with each other for a roster spot, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

Footballguys View: The Giants backfield is a bit of a mess right now. Rashad Jennings should be the starter, but he should split time with Shane Vereen. Rookie Paul Perkins has a bit of Jamaal Charles (Chiefs) to his game and might find his way onto the field as a change-of-pace back. Williams is a two-down back with build-up power and he’s not as sure in short-yardage situations as he needs to be. We’ll be watching this entire RB corps closely during camp, but Williams is only relevant for dynasty owners at this time.
