Broncos | Mark Sanchez on the block

Denver Broncos QB Mark Sanchez is being shopped on the trade market Monday, Aug. 29, and could be cut in the next 24 hours if he’s not dealt.

Footballguys View: Why would any team trade for him when he’s likely to get cut? Sanchez was supposed to be the starter for the Broncos while they groomed 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch. Instead, he turned the ball over too much and Trevor Siemian won the top spot. Now, he’ll start the season with Lynch continuing to get groomed — perhaps at an accelerated pace.

Ravens | Two Ravens TEs on the mend

Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (finger) and TE Maxx Williams (undisclosed) are expected to return to practice shortly after the final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 1.

Footballguys View: The Ravens lost TE Ben Watson for the year this weekend, so getting these two back in action helps a lot. Williams is the future at the position, and he reminds many in the scouting community of a young Jason Witten. Pitta was still working his way back from a near career-ending hip injury when this finger injury happened. He hasn’t played since early in the 2014 season.

Redskins | Cullen Jenkins signs with Redskins

Free-agent DE Cullen Jenkins (Giants) signed a one-year deal with the Washington Redskins Monday, Aug. 29. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Footballguys View: Jenkins has now played for three of the four teams in the NFC East. He’s no longer the player he used to be, but the seasoned veteran can give Washington some interior push as a pass-rusher on a part-time basis.
