New England Patriots WR Matthew Slater signed a one-year, $1.8M extension through 2017 Wednesday, Aug. 31. He received a $600,000 signing bonus and a fully guaranteed $900,000 base salary in ’17. He can also earn $300,000 in per-game roster bonuses in 2017.

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (ankle) is 50-50 to play in Week 1, in the opinion of beat writer Dave Birkett.

Footballguys View: Even if Ebron plays, we’re not counting on him from a fantasy perspective. The Lions passing attack should be led by WRs Golden Tate and Marvin Jones. We think WR Anquan Boldin could have a larger role than a fully healthy Ebron. Look elsewhere for TE depth.

But that was on air. Now he’s out here with what is really the next part of the progression for him. We like what we’ve seen, but we obviously need to continue to bring that along.’
