Chargers | Manti Te’o placed on IR
San Diego Chargers LB Manti Te’o (Achilles’) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Sept. 28. The team also signed LB Korey Toomer off the Oakland Raiders practice squad. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Cowboys | Dez Bryant has hairline fracture
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (knee) has a hairline fracture in his knee, but head coach Jason Garrett hopes Bryant will be able to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4. Bryant is considered day-to-day at this point.
Panthers | Vernon Butler injury update
Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers DT Vernon Butler (ankle) said he expects to miss two to three weeks because of his high ankle sprain. He is currently in a walking boot because of the injury.
49ers | Torrey Smith should be fine
San Francisco 49ers WR Torrey Smith (ankle) suffered an apparent ankle injury during the team’s Week 3 game, but head coach Chip Kelly said Smith will be fine.
Footballguys View: Smith will be fine, but fantasy owners aren’t going to trust Smith in the lineup. He’s a WR4 at best this week against the Cowboys.
49ers | Vance McDonald may miss time
San Francisco 49ers TE Vance McDonald’s (hip) status for Week 4 is uncertain because of a hip injury he suffered in Week 3. Head coach Chip Kelly said McDonald is not dealing with a long-term injury, but his status will not be known until later in the week.
Footballguys View: Garrett Celek and Blake Bell are the two behind McDonald on the depth chart. Bell, a converted QB from Oklahoma who has only played one year at TE, has the athleticism to make plays after the catch. Celek may get first crack at the starting job, but Bell is the player we’d be more excited about…but only in deep dynasty leagues.
49ers | Keshawn Martin may be returner
San Francisco 49ers WR Keshawn Martin is expected to be used as a kick and punt returner.
Footballguys View: That’s why the team signed him. He’ll do little to nothing as a receiver and Martin has no fantasy value.
49ers | Garrett Celek limited at practice
San Francisco 49ers TE Garrett Celek (undisclosed) is wearing a no-contact jersey during practice Wednesday, Sept. 28. Celek received a big hit during the team’s Week 3 game.
Texans | Duane Brown may be available
Houston Texans OT Duane Brown (quadriceps) will be doing more during practice this week in hopes of being able to play in Week 4, according to head coach Bill O’Brien. O’Brien said he expects Brown to play in Week 5 if he is not able to play in Week 4.
Jets | Eric Decker not practicing
New York Jets WR Eric Decker (shoulder) is not on the field for practice Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Footballguys View: Check back to see if Decker can practice on Friday. Today might just be a day of rest for the veteran.
