Chiefs | KC denies Alex Smith suffered concussion

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (head) reportedly did not suffer a concussion in a Week 8 win over the Indianapolis Colts, according to team trainer Rick Burkholder.

Footballguys View: Smith did have to leave the game due to a head injury, and backup Nick Foles played well in his absence. Foles tossed two touchdowns and 223 yards in the team’s victory over the Colts. At this time, it seems like the Chiefs are intent on Smith starting in Week 9.

Texans | Owner defends Brock Osweiler

Houston Texans QB Brock Osweiler improved to 10-5 as a starting quarterback in the NFL following his team’s Week 8 win over the Detroit Lions. While he continues to fight the public perception he is already a bust less than one year into his four-year, $72 million contract which include $37 million guaranteed, team owner Bob McNair is preaching patience.

Bills | Lorenzo Alexander unconcerned for Week 9

Buffalo Bills LB Lorenzo Alexander (hamstring) was unable to return to the game after suffering a hamstring injury in a Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots. However, the NFL’s sack leader told reporters he’s had a similar injury in the past and was able to play the following week, so he is confident he’ll be ready in time for the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9.
