Texans | D.J. Reader ready to step up

Houston Texans DT D.J. Reader believes he can take over for DT Vince Wilfork right away if Wilfork chooses to retire this offseason. Wilfork approves of the idea. ‘He’s a great teammate. He’s a smart football player,’ Wilfork said of Reader. ‘That’s one of the things, as a rookie, when he first came in his football IQ was pretty good as a rookie.’ Wilfork added, ‘He’s going to be as good as he wants to be. Everything that I’ve seen and we’ve seen, we’re very happy with all of our rookies, especially D.J. He’s helped us a lot.’

Steelers | Ladarius Green not retiring

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) would like to return to the Steelers next season. He is not considering retirement despite suffering multiple concussions with multiple teams. ‘Frustrating season, but everybody has one,’ Green said. ‘I hope it’s the only one I have. I’m going to go train as soon as I get home, and hopefully next season works out a lot better.’
