Bills | New OC a good sign for Tyrod Taylor?

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor appears to have a good chance to remain with the team because he was part of the reason offensive coordinator Rick Dennison joined the coaching staff, in the opinion of NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. ‘It would make no sense if the Bills hired Rick Dennison and got rid of Tyrod Taylor, one of the reasons (Dennison) signed there. So do not be surprised if Taylor is back, maybe on some sort of restructured contract for cap reasons. But this is very good news for the Bills’ starter.’

Vikings | Pat Shurmur will continue to be OC

Minnesota Vikings interim offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has been named the team’s permanent offense coordinator.

Footballguys View: Shurmur took over this year after Norv Turner retired from the gig. The Vikings should continue to feature QB Sam Bradford and the short passing game, but it’s unknown whether RB Adrian Peterson will return in 2017.

Jaguars | Jags hire Keenan McCardell as WR coach

The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired former Washington Redskins assistant coach Keenan McCardell as their new wide receivers coach.

Footballguys View: McCardell played for the Jaguars from 1996-2001, and now he’s going to be coaching there. He has been a WR coach with Washington and the University of Maryland. Guys like Stefon Diggs, DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder have benefited from his coaching.

Bills | Sammy Watkins undergoes surgery

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) underwent a second surgery on his injured foot last week.

Footballguys View: In 2016, Watkins had to deal with this foot injury and play through some discomfort. Originally it was thought that no surgery and only rest would be needed after his first surgery. Now, Watkins is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
