Dolphins | Julius Thomas expendable due to blocking woes

Miami Dolphins TE Julius Thomas wore out his welcome with the Jacksonville Jaguars in part due to his limitations as a blocker, according to a source, which called Thomas’ blocking ‘non-existent’.

Footballguys View: That sounds about right. Thomas hasn’t developed as a blocker, and at this point of his pro career he never will. The Dolphins didn’t trade for him to blast open holes as a blocker. Instead, the Dolphins want Thomas because of his receiving ability and threat to score in the red zone.

Raiders | Latavius Murray expected to leave Oakland

Impending free-agent RB Latavius Murray is unlikely to return to the Oakland Raiders when he officially hits the open market next month.

Footballguys View: The Raiders should add a big back in the 2017 NFL draft. They already have Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington to work as receiving backs or change-of-pace backs. They’ll have to find a lead ball-carrier, and one who is likely larger than Richard and Washington.
