General manager Kevin Colbert said he would love to have Timmons finish his career as a Steeler, but implied that the Steelers are willing to let Timmons test the free-agent market if he’s deemed too expensive for them to keep.
Browns | Charley Hughlett signs extension
Cleveland Browns LS Charley Hughlett signed a six-year contract extension Thursday, Feb. 16. The new contract makes Hughlett the highest paid long snapper in the NFL. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Chargers | Melvin Gordon can do better
San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon can take his game to another level, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. Lynn said he’s going to work with Gordon in an effort to make him better as a runner. ‘When I look at the tape, I say, ‘Oh my goodness, we can help him get better here and here.’ And he’s already good, but there’s more yards [to be gained],’ Lynn said. Lynn was a running back himself in the NFL and believes his experience and insight can help Gordon achieve his full potential.
Footballguys View: We’d like to see that, but as the saying goes “you can’t produce from the trainer’s table.” Gordon has missed games both of his first two seasons and that isn’t helping his development. Hopefully the Chargers can help him remain healthy so he can reach his potential.
