Texans | A.J. Bouye unlikely to receive tag

Houston Texans impending free-agent CB A.J. Bouye likely will not receive the franchise tag this offseason because of the team’s salary cap situation. The Texans are expected to have around $25 million in salary cap space available, but Bouye would be scheduled to receive a little more than $14 million in 2017 if he received the franchise tag.

Footballguys View: The Texans would like to keep Bouye around, but they’ll have to work out a long-term deal with him. Bouye is one of the best free agents at any position set to hit the open market. He could land a deal that makes him a top-10 paid cornerback in the league with an annual average salary around $12 million or more.

Bills | Lorenzo Alexander looking for lucrative deal

Buffalo Bills impending free-agent LB Lorenzo Alexander will receive between $5 million and $10 million per season on a short-term deal this offseason, according to his agent.

Footballguys View: Alexander had a career-best 12.5 sacks in 2016, and he’s hitting the open market on a high note. New head coach Sean McDermott is switching to a 4-3 defense, but Alexander feels he’s a fit for any scheme.

Broncos | Denver interested in re-signing Kayvon Webster

The Denver Broncos have reached out to impending free-agent CB Kayvon Webster about the possibility of a new contract, according to a source.

Footballguys View: Webster has been a good reserve cornerback for the team, but he’s been outstanding on special teams. He may want to stay with Denver, but Webster isn’t going to get a larger role on defense in the Mile High City. Webster could move on to a team where he’ll get more of a chance at playing time.
