Chargers | Jatavis Brown likely to move to OLB
Los Angeles Chargers LB Jatavis Brown likely will move to weakside linebacker in the team’s new 4-3 defensive alignment. Brown was used as an inside linebacker when the team used a 3-4 defensive alignment in 2016.
Saints | Chase Daniel visiting with New Orleans
Free-agent QB Chase Daniel (Eagles) is meeting with the New Orleans Saints Sunday, March 19, according to a source.
Footballguys View: It would make a lot of sense for Daniel to return to the Saints. He was a backup for Drew Brees from 2009-2012. Right now, the Saints have Luke McCown and Garrett Grayson as backups behind Brees.
Jaguars | Blake Bortles working on mechanics
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said he has been working with quarterback coaches this offseason and has been able to develop a quicker release. He has been working out with WR Marqise Lee in California and is scheduled to work out with WRs Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns next week in Arizona.
Footballguys View: Simply put, Bortles regressed last year for the Jaguars. If he’s focused on football and improving his game, then perhaps he can start showing the potential he had two years ago. The Jaguars have put together one helluva defense, and they have weapons on offense if they can get more out of Bortles.
Colts | Sean Spence could start in 2017
Indianapolis Colts LB Sean Spence is expected to compete for one of the starting inside linebacker jobs next season.
Jets | Josh McCown finishes visit with Jets
Free-agent QB Josh McCown (Browns) finished his visit with the New York Jets Sunday, March 19, but did not reach an agreement on a contract. The two sides will continue to talk but no deal is imminent.
Footballguys View: McCown would be a good bridge quarterback for whatever team signs him. The Jets have young passers like Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg, but neither one of them seems like a long-term answer. McCown isn’t either, but he could start for a team while a quarterback is groomed.
Jets | Howard Jones keeping options open
Free-agent DE Howard Jones (Buccaneers) plans on making a few more visits to interested teams this week after meeting with the New York Jets on Friday, March 17.
