Packers | Head coach believes in Ty Montgomery
Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery has been given a vote of confidence from head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy believes Montgomery has the ability to be a No. 1 running back after transitioning to the position from wide receiver last year. ‘He’s a very talented young man, very bright, obviously understands the whole perimeter part of the offense now, so his utilization and the variation that he gives us as far as alignments and assignments and the different things that he can do will definitely benefit us as far as our offensive scheme,’ McCarthy said. ‘He just needs to have a great offseason, but this is a big opportunity for him.’
Footballguys View: This was expected given the team let Eddie Lacy walk and didn’t dip its toe into free agency. Montgomery showed ability, but the team didn’t really seem to know what to do with him during the playoffs. We hope the confidence translates to more consistent use and carries down the road.
