Colts | Clayton Geathers may not be ready

Indianapolis Colts SS Clayton Geathers (neck) may not be ready for the start of the season as there is still no timetable for his return. ‘I can’t tell you when Clayton is going to be available for us, but he’s doing everything as far as the rehab and the meetings,’ head coach Chuck Pagano said. ‘He’s just not practicing right now. When the doctors say he’s 100 percent and he’s ready to roll, then we’ll put him back out there.’ S T.J. Green is practicing in Geathers’ place.

Texans | Derek Newton restructures

Houston Texans OT Derek Newton restructured his contract to reduce his base salaries in 2017, 2018 and 2019 from $4.25 million to $1.75 million (guaranteed), $2.25 million (non-guaranteed) and $2 million (non-guaranteed). Newton has a $500,000 roster bonus this year and an annual $250,000 base salary de-escalator clause if he fails to complete workouts. In 2018, Newton has a $500,000 roster bonus as well as a $2 million total per-game active roster bonus. In 2019, Newton has a $1 million total per-game active roster bonus.

Packers | Quinten Rollins had groin surgery

Green Bay Packers CB Quinten Rollins (groin) underwent groin surgery right after the season to fix a problem that stretched from October through January. He was bothered by a nagging groin problem throughout the campaign. Rollins did not feel any restrictions, however, when he was on the field for OTAs Tuesday, May 23, and said the issue was ‘night-and-day better.’

Cowboys | Dallas eyeing Daryl Washington?

Free-agent LB Daryl Washington (Cardinals) has drawn interest from the Dallas Cowboys, according to a source.

He was talented when he played, but it’s been some time since Washington has been on the football field. Washington was recently reinstated from his suspension and has not played in the NFL since 2013.

Steelers | Sean Davis had surgery

Pittsburgh Steelers SS Sean Davis (shoulder) underwent surgery on his shoulder this offseason, according to a sources, but he anticipates being fully healthy for training camp.

Footballguys View: A second-round pick out of Maryland in 2016, Davis played over 700 snaps as a rookie — primarily at strong safety for the Steelers. They’ll let his shoulder get healthy before getting Davis back out there.

Jets | Two rookies sign with Jets

New York Jets S Marcus Maye and LB Dylan Donahue signed their four-year rookie contracts Tuesday, May 23. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys View: Maye is going to be a big part of the rebuilt defensive backfield for the Jets. A second-round pick out of Florida in the 2017 NFL draft, Maye will team with first-round pick Jamal Adams (LSU) to give the Jets another playmaker in the secondary.
