Patriots | Julian Edelman sticking around?

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman is in the final year of his contract, but former teammate Heath Evans said he doesn’t expect a contract dispute like the one that saw WR Wes Welker leave New England and sign with the Denver Broncos in free agency. ‘I don’t think we’re going to see that with Jules,’ Evans said. ‘I think Jules embraces the grind-it-out-for-the-common-good mentality.’

Jets | Christian Hackenberg a bad fit?

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg is a bad fit for offensive coordinator John Morton’s West Coast-style system, according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com. The system is built on timing and accuracy, and Cimini spoke with an opposing scout who said he was shocked at how off target many of Hackenberg’s passes were in warmups last year.

Footballguys View: Hackenberg was not ready last year as a rookie, and that’s why he didn’t see the field as the Jets stumbled through Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bryce Petty at the helm. He’s got a chance this year, but with veteran Josh McCown in town it seems like he’ll be playing second- or third-string at best.
