Bills | Walter Powell may not make team

Buffalo Bills WR Walter Powell may be a long shot to make the final roster because of his four-game suspension.

Footballguys View: A sixth-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2014 NFL draft, Powell caught 14 passes for the Bills over nine games last year. He’d be fourth (at best) on the Bills depth chart if he makes the 53-man roster. With this suspension, the Bills don’t have to decide his fate until he’s eligible to return in October.

Bills | Jonathan Williams works on ball security

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams has worked on improving his ball security this offseason after head coach Sean McDermott said it was an area Williams needed to work on. Williams lost two fumbles on 28 carries in 2016.

Footballguys View: Williams has good dynasty potential because of his natural running style, instincts for the position and power between the tackles. He needs to hang onto the rock if he wants to get some touches as LeSean McCoy’s primary backup in 2017.

Lions | Coach happy with Darius Slay despite lack of INTs

Detroit Lions CB Darius Slay has recorded only six interceptions in his four NFL seasons, but cornerbacks coach Tony Oden said he is not worried about the interception number as long as Slay is staying with the team’s defensive scheme. Oden said he believes Slay can improve his interception skills and could have more in the future.

Bills | Eric Wood expects to be 100 percent

Buffalo Bills C Eric Wood (leg) was able to participate in offseason workouts and expects to be 100 percent at the start of training camp barring a setback. ‘It went great. I missed one day the first week of OTAs and we had planned that if I had any setbacks or got too sore I would take a day off, but I didn’t need a day off the rest of the time. So I’m encouraged. I definitely should be 100 percent barring anything crazy happening over the next month. So I’m looking forward to it,’ Wood told BuffaloBills.com earlier in June.
