Tennessee Titans WR Harry Douglas (knee) will not play in the preseason game against the Chicago Bears Sunday, Aug. 27, because of a knee injury.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook (lower body) did not play in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 24, because of a lower body injury.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (knee) suffered a knee injury during the preseason game Friday, Aug. 25, and is considered questionable to return.

Footballguys View: Edelman’s injury was a non-contact knee buckle when he was planting his foot. We can hope for the best but assume the worst, as Edelman looked a bit dejected on the cart. The biggest immediate beneficiary would be Chris Hogan, who would likely get the nod in two wide sets, but we shouldn’t overlook the possibility that Brandin Cooks gets more short targets if Edelman is out. While Edelman is very productive, Danny Amendola and even Rex Burkhead, who has experience in the slot, can provide some of his tactical value. This wouldn’t be a crippling injury for the Patriots pass offense, so there is likely a net gain for at least 1-2 pass catchers in this offense and only a small hit to Tom Brady. The Patriots have a plethora of talented pass catchers and personnel packages to put defenses at a disadvantage and Edelman isn’t as essential as Rob Gronkowski or Cooks to this offense’s success.

Buffalo Bills TE Jason Croom (ankle) was waived from the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Aug. 25, after the two sides reached an injury settlement.

Pittsburgh Steelers OT Marcus Gilbert’s agent has talked with the Steelers about his contract situation. The talks are believed to be preliminary since Gilbert is under contract through the 2019 season.

Pittsburgh Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey (leg) said he is ready for as many snaps as necessary in the preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts Saturday, Aug. 26. Pouncey missed a few weeks of practice because of a cut on his leg that required stitches.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) will receive a few snaps in the preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals Saturday, Aug. 26. Jones missed the first two preseason games because he is coming off offseason foot surgery.

Cincinnati Bengals SS Shawn Williams (elbow) is making good progress in his recovery from a dislocated elbow, and the team is hoping that Williams will be available to play in Week 1, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

New England Patriots LB Dont’a Hightower (undisclosed) will not play in the preseason game against the Detroit Lions Friday, Aug. 25. He was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list earlier this week and has participated in only two practices.

Philadelphia Eagles DT Beau Allen (pectoral) passed his physical Friday, Aug. 25, and will be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list.
