Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain during joint practices with the New Orleans Saints, but the team hopes he will be able to return in the near future, according to a source.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is expected to play in the preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens Saturday, Aug. 26, and may play as many snaps as the other starters. McCoy has not played in the third preseason in three years.

Free-agent WR Karel Hamilton (Bengals) signed with the Dallas Cowboys Friday, Aug. 25. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived/injured WR Corey Washington (undisclosed).

San Francisco 49ers SS Jimmie Ward (hamstring) will not play in the preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Aug. 27.

San Francisco 49ers QB C.J. Beathard will serve as the No. 2 quarterback in the preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Aug. 27. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Beathard is still competing with Matt Barkley for the primary backup job.

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (groin) has been diagnosed with a strained groin and will not play in the third preseason game. The injury is not considered serious, and McCoy said he will be fine.

San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks was officially released Friday, Aug. 25.

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (wrist) will be on the 53-man roster and is not a candidate to begin the season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list, according to head coach Vance Joseph.
