Texans | C.J. Fiedorowicz receives extension

Houston Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with the Texans Thursday, Aug. 31. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys View: Fiedorowicz may see an uptick in targets with as many injuries and underperforming options as there are in the Texans passing offense. DeAndre Hopkins will continue to be the number one, but Fiedorowicz could get enough targets to be a sneaky TE2.

Bears | Mitchell Trubisky not expected to play much

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky is only expected to play one or two series in the final preseason game Thursday, Aug. 31.

Footballguys View: Trubisky will end up being the starting quarterback, so they can’t risk him being hurt. Glen and didn’t perform well enough to hold on to the job. Nobody at quarterback here is worst drafting.

Giants | Odell Beckham works out

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) caught some passes during a light workout before the team’s final preseason game Thursday, Aug. 31.

Footballguys View: Beckham is a top receiver in fantasy, but this injury throws a little bit of shade over his value. Hopefully the injury won’t be a nagging one, and he will end up giving you the value for the high pick you need to spend to get him.

Jets | Matt Forte on the bubble?

New York Jets RB Matt Forte is believed to be on the final roster bubble, in the opinion of ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini. Cimini cites Forte’s age and the presence of RB Bilal Powell and rookie RB Elijah McGuire as the main reasons for Forte’s potential departure.

Footballguys View: Let’s be honest the only value in the Jets offense is in the backfield, and that is hampered a bit because we don’t know how they will sort carries between Forte and Bilal Powell. So removing Forte would do nothing but clear that up. Given how the Jets have been jettisoning veterans all offseason, it’s surprising this didn’t happen quite a while ago.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor a Week 1 question mark

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol, but general manager Brandon Beane feels good about Taylor’s chances of playing Week 1. If Taylor is unable to take the field then Beane is still confident in rookie QB Nathan Peterman.

Footballguys View: In case you hadn’t gotten the message before now, avoid the passing offense for this team. Seriously, at least Taylor would get you some yards on the ground. The departure of Sammy Watkins leaves this group of receivers with a mixture of inexperience and mediocrity.

Panthers | Greg Olsen incentives increase

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen had $2 million added to his incentives Thursday, Aug. 31, according to a source. The incentives are based on catches, receiving yards, average yards per catch and other achievements.

Footballguys View: Olsen is coming off draft boards as the third tight end and well worth the price. We expect him to hit the marks that will make him his money this year, as Cam Newton still lacks many other options.
