Jets | Baker Mayfield meets with Jets

The New York Jets met with Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield Thursday, Jan. 25, at the 2018 Senior Bowl, according to a source.

Footballguys View: The Jets own the #6 pick and Mayfield is a realistic target because of his less than ideal frame for the NFL quarterback position. Still, with the Browns and Broncos picking ahead of them and sorely in need of a passer, there’s a chance Mayfield doesn’t last that long. If he doesn’t, UCLA’s Josh Rosen or USC’s Sam Darnold could be there.

Eagles | Carson Wentz hopes to be ready for opener

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) said the timetable for his return is fluid but hopes to be ready for regular season opener next season. He said he tore his lateral collateral ligament in addition to his anterior cruciate ligament during the season.

Footballguys View: Wentz might be the #1 quarterback in dynasty leagues right now, but it will be risky to draft him early in redraft leagues with the possibility that he is rusty early in the season and not as mobile as a runner or scrambler in his return from ACL surgery. A Week 1 return is a good goal for him, but the team will certainly err on the side of caution, making it far from guaranteed.

NFL | Isaiah Wynn to miss Senior Bowl

Georgia OT Isaiah Wynn (labrum) participated in practice this week but will not play in the 2018 Senior Bowl because he has been dealing with a torn labrum. He is scheduled to undergo surgery next week but is expected to be ready for training camp.

Footballguys View: Wynn had a very good week in Mobile during practices and certainly has endeared himself to teams that like players who can perform when hurt. He’ll likely kick inside to guard in the pros, but might get into the first round anyway.
