Steelers | Todd Haley could leave Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who is a free agent at the end of the season, might not return to the team next year due to a souring relationship with QB Ben Roethlisberger, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. As a result, quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner has moved from the booth to the sidelines to act as a conduit between the two. If Haley does not come back, Fichtner is a potential candidate to become the next offensive coordinator.

Panthers | Mike Tolbert could be interested in CAR return

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Tolbert, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, expressed interest in returning to the Carolina Panthers during a radio interview with WFMZ-FM Friday, Jan. 12. Tolbert played five seasons with Carolina, maintains a home in Charlotte during the offseason and also played for Panthers offensive coordinator Norv Turner when he was the head coach of the San Diego Chargers at the beginning of his career. Tolbert added that he wanted to play two or three more seasons before retiring and wouldn’t mind returning to Buffalo either.

Giants | NYG has fourth sleeper candidate

Updating a previous report, the New York Giants reportedly have a fourth ‘sleeper’ candidate for their head coaching vacancy in case their top three choices are hired by other teams, according to a source. Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels are finalists for the Giants’ job but they are also the favorites for the Arizona, Detroit and Indianapolis head coaching positions respectively. The identity of the fourth sleeper candidate is unknown.
