Vikings | Minnesota signs two players

Minnesota Vikings OT Storm Norton and S Jack Tocho were signed to Reserve/Future contracts Monday, Jan. 29.

Footballguys View: Norton is a big tackle who was on the team’s practice squad until a few weeks ago, and Tocho was a seventh-round draft pick of the team who spent time on the practice squad. Tocho was weighing an offer from Houston, but decided to stay in Minnesota.

Steelers | Trey Griffey signed by Steelers

Free-agent WR Trey Griffey (Dolphins) was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday, Jan. 29.

Footballguys View: Griffey is Ken Griffey Jr’s son with size at 6’2″ 209, but average to below average speed, explosiveness and quickness. He’ll be a longshot to make the final roster, but could get some more work in the spring after Eli Rogers suffered a torn ACL in the loss to the Jaguars.

Panthers | Greg Van Roten re-signs

Carolina Panthers OG Greg Van Roten re-signed to a two-year deal through the 2019 season. Financial terms were not disclosed. Van Roten would have been a restricted free agent.

Footballguys View: Van Roten will provide good depth at center and guard and maybe more if Andrew Norwell leaves in free agency. He was a surprise name on the 53-man roster to open the 2017 season but now it appears his roster spot for 2018 is secure.
