NFL | Shea McClellin may retire

Free-agent LB Shea McClellin (Patriots) said he isn’t officially retiring, but he is prepared to have played his last game due to the cumulative effect of concussions. ‘I’m still staying ready, still working out. I’ve learned to never say never, there’s always a chance that I could still play again, but for now all my focus is on coaching high school,’ said the 28-year-old McClellin, who has accepted a position as linebackers coach at Mountain View High School in Meridian, Idaho.

Packers | Quinten Rollins may not make team

Green Bay Packers CB Quinten Rollins (Achilles’) feels good after practicing on a limited basis. Rollins hasn’t had any setbacks after tearin his Achilles’ tendon last season, but he realizes he is competing for a spot on the final roster. CBs Jaire Alexander, Josh Jackson and Kevin King have no worries, but Rollins is competing with fellow CBs Tramon Williams, Davon House, Lenzy Pipkins, Josh Hawkins, Demetri Goodson, Donatello Brown and Herb Waters. Rollins has already rejected the proposition of moving to safety.

Cowboys | Allen Hurns motivated

Dallas Cowboys WR Allen Hurns is using two disappointing seasons in a row and grief from pundits about Dallas having the worst receiving corps in the league as motivation for 2018. ‘Our room, we have a lot of guys who have a lot to prove. I like being in a room like that,’ Hurns said. ‘Each and every day we’re going to go out there and push each other.’

Jaguars | Keelan Cole may be slot WR

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Keelan Cole appears to be the leading candidate for slot receiver job at this point, in the opinion of FirstCoastNews.com’s Mike Kaye.

Footballguys View: Cole is arguably the best route runner on the Jaguars roster, he has strong chemistry with QB Blake Bortles and he’s not afraid to run routes over the middle. We should see Donte Moncrief and Marqise Lee start on the outside for the Jaguars, leaving Cole to man the slot. Cole should produce like a WR4 or deep flex receiver for fantasy owners in 2018.

Jaguars | Two options for No. 4 RB

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Tim Cook and Brandon Wilds are expected to compete for the No. 4 running back job during training camp.

Footballguys View: Cook, an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State in 2017, has the size to grind down defenders at 6′ 240 pounds. He could be the team’s second power back behind starter Leonard Fournette. Wilds has 4.5 40 speed at 220 pounds. He’s swift and generates strength as he runs. T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant are the two backs behind Fournette heading into 2018. Cook or Wilds are only deep dynasty prospects to watch.
