Panthers | Surgery for Cam Newton

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Thursday, Jan. 24.

This surgery was minor so now reports speculate that he’ll be ready for the 2019 season. We’ll know more about his status as his recovery rolls on.

Footballguys View: It sounds like the Jaguars are leaning towards not picking up his option. Seferian-Jenkins should have plenty of suitors on the open market because of his ability as a blocker and receiver.

Lions | Theo Riddick done in Detroit?

Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick is expected to be released or traded this offseason, which would save the Lions more than $3.4 million, according to Spotrac.

Footballguys View: Even though he caught 61 passes in 2018, Riddick was not quite himself averaging just 6.3 yards per catch. He’s a receiving back who can catch 50-plus passes no matter where he goes.
