Buccaneers | Gerald McCoy released

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy was released Monday, May 20.

Footballguys View: This move was not unexpected. McCoy was due a whopping $13 million by the Buccaneers and all of that now comes off the books with his release. The Bucs first-round pick in the 2010 NFL draft, McCoy is not quite the player he used to be. That being said, we think McCoy finds a home rather quickly — and it could be with a team in a Super Bowl window. Stay tuned.

Cowboys | No progress in Amari Cooper contract talks

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper is at a stalemate in contract extension talks with the Cowboys, according to a source.

Footballguys View: The Cowboys have some big-money deals coming up with guys like Cooper, QB Dak Prescott and RB Ezekiel Elliott. There is buzz that Cooper wants to best the top WR salary (annually) that Odell Beckham Jr. currently makes at $18MM per year. Cooper made an instant impact for the Cowboys last year after they traded the Raiders for him and they’ll get some deal done…no matter how painful that price tag might be.
