Giants | Eli Manning dismisses QB competition

New York Giants QB Eli Manning said he does not believes he is in a competition with QB Daniel Jones for the starting job. ‘I mean no, I don’t feel like it’s a competition,’ Manning said. ‘I feel like I’ve got to do my job and I’ve got to compete every day and try to get better every day. That’s the way it’s been my whole life and that’s just the way I’ve always approached practice every day to improve, to earn my place on the team, to earn the respect of the teammates and do it each year.’ Manning said he has no problem helping Jones improve.

Footballguys View: Manning has gotten a lot of deference from the current Giants regime, but observers said Jones looked better than him in the spring and he’ll be on the spot to reverse that momentum in camp. Either way, the Giants will be one of the bottom ten teams in quarterback play this year.

Titans | A.J. Brown draws lofty comparison

Tennessee Titans WR A.J. Brown reminds NFL Network analyst Charles Davis ‘a little bit’ of Hall of Famer Andre Reed.’I wasn’t sure about a 230-pound slot receiver. … We’re used to slot receivers being waterbug guys. But he’s going to be a little bit like a guy who is in the Hall of Fame, a guy who played with the Buffalo Bills, a guy by the name of Andre Reed. Now he has a ways to go to be Andre Reed. But he’s a thicker version of him, with good hands, and he’s an excellent route runner. He can maneuver in traffic. … A.J Brown can take a good number of those tight end routes inside and create nice plays for them,’ Davis said.
