Packers | Green Bay scoops up Pharoah McKever

Free-agent TE Pharoah McKever (Jaguars) was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers on Monday, June 10.

Footballguys View: McKever is a huge and athletic target, measuring in at 6’6″ 259 pounds. He played on the defensive line and at wide receiver during his college career at NC State. McKever then transferred to FIU where he played tight end, catching 27 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns in his final collegiate season. He spent time with the Steelers and Jaguars as a UDFA in 2018 and now will try to earn a spot with the Packers. McKever is raw but has athletic potential.

Saints | New Orleans taking a look at Tristan Blewett

Free-agent Tristan Blewett – a Major League Rugby player for the New Orleans Gold – participated in a work out for the New Orleans Saints on Monday, June 10.

Footballguys View: It’s always interesting seeing if these rugby players can stick in the NFL. We’ll see if Saints head coach Sean Payton (who said earlier this offseason that he was ‘looking everywhere’ for talent) is impressed enough with Blewett to offer him a spot in training camp.

Titans | A.J. Brown to be limited at minicamp

Tennessee Titans WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) is expected to sit during team periods at mandatory minicamp beginning Tuesday, June 11, and going through Thursday, June 13.

Footballguys View: Hamstring injuries can linger, and the Titans don’t want that to happen with their 2019 second-round pick. Brown is going to line up outside opposite of Corey Davis in 2019, and the rookie has good speed but fantastic ball-tracking ability. With that role, we could see him catching 40-50 passes as a rookie if he can stay healthy.
