Jets | Coach wants Quincy Enunwa to stay on field

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa will be given the chance to earn a bigger role in the passing game during training camp, but head coach Adam Gase said he does not want Enunwa to take unnecessary hits and wants him to stay healthy. ‘He is a physical player. He’s a big man. When he gets to the secondary, he’s a tough guy to bring down. We were on opposite teams last year and he carried about 12 guys on his back for about 10 yards. At some point, you’d like him to go down. When you know it’s getting too many, just going down and saving yourself for the next play because we’re going to need him,’ Gase said.

Retired | Jared Veldheer says decision was easy

Retired OT Jared Veldheer (Patriots) said Tuesday, June 25, that his retirement decision wasn’t hard. ‘It was easy (decision) because of knowing what my body was telling me, but it was hard because I was leaving a very good situation being with the Patriots,’ Veldheer said in an interview with MLive.com. ‘(Patriots coach Bill Belichick) understood, and everyone in the NFL building understands that the sport can do a number on your body and different guys have different timelines on how long they can make it through.’

Raiders | Ryan Grant is top slot option

Oakland Raiders WR Ryan Grant appears to be the likeliest option to open the season in the slot, in the opinion of NBC Sports Bay Area’s Scott Bair, but the team really likes rookie WR Hunter Renfrow, and Bair believes he’ll be given every chance to earn a role. Beyond starting WRs Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams, Bair lists WR Dwayne Harris, the team’s return man, as the only other lock.
