NFL | Maratvis Bryant seeks reinstatement

Free-agent WR Martavis Bryant (Raiders) has applied to the NFL for reinstatement. He has been working with the NFL and the NFL Players Association to address his mental health issues.

Footballguys View: Bryant was most recently suspended in December for violating a policy from a previous ban. He has been suspended three times in the past four years for violations of the league’s substance abuse policy. If healthy and on the right track, Bryant can still be a deep threat in the league. It’s unknown if or when Bryant would actually be reinstated.

Chiefs | No progress in contract talks for Chris Jones

Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris D. Jones has not made any progress in contract extension talks with the Chiefs leading up to training camp, according to a source. Jones needs to report by Tuesday, Aug. 6, to receive an accrued season toward free agency.

Footballguys View: A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Jones is in the final year of his contract. He skipped work this offseason as he was looking to get a new long-term deal. No progress has been made, but Jones is one of the best rushers in the league so we feel the Chiefs can find a way to work something out.
