Browns | Jarvis Landry in concussion protocol

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (concussion) was placed in the league’s concussion protocol Monday, Sept. 30.

Footballguys View: We’ll see if Landry can get cleared from the protocol later in the week. This is Landry’s first documented NFL concussion and it will be interesting to see how quickly he gets better. The Browns travel to take on the 49ers in Week 5.

Cowboys | Tyron Smith injury update

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (ankle) suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 4 versus the New Orleans Saints, but the injury does not appear to be a severe as initially feared. While his availability for Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers is unknown at the moment, he is not expected to miss much time if does not play in that game.

49ers | Tevin Coleman generating optimism

San Francisco 49ers RB Tevin Coleman (ankle) has been spotted catching passes, quickly turning upfield and taking a few steps at half- to three-quarters speed recently as part of his rehab from the high-ankle sprain he suffered in Week 1.

Footballguys View: We’ll believe it when we see it. Coleman has played in one game so far this year and has been missing time with this high-ankle sprain since then. The 49ers will march on with Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert and Jeffrey Wilson in a 3-headed RBBC.

Broncos | Bradley Chubb suffers torn ACL

Denver Broncos LB Bradley Chubb (knee) returned to the game in Week 4 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars after suffering a knee injury, but it was discovered Monday, Sept. 30, that he actually tore his anterior cruciate ligament. He will miss the remainder of the season.

Footballguys View: A huge blow to the Broncos defense. Chubb finally got his first sack of the year against the Jaguars on Sunday and then left the game briefly as he appeared to be suffering from cramps. The Broncos will use a rotation of players, led by undrafted rookie OLB Malik Reed in an effort to replace Chubb on defense.

Bears | Mitchell Trubisky should avoid surgery

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) is reportedly dealing with a dislocated left shoulder – with a slight labrum tear – but will not require surgery and should be able to return to action ‘sooner than later’ based on initial MRI results, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He will reportedly travel with the team to London in Week 5 but not play versus the Oakland Raiders, and there is optimism he will play following the team’s Week 6 bye.
