Buccaneers | Chris Godwin extension a top priority

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin is a player the team considers a top priority in terms of getting a contract extension done this offseason, according to comments made by head coach Bruce Arians.

Footballguys View: Godwin’s current deal runs through the 2020 season, but he’s only set to have a cap hit of $966k next year. With his 85 catches for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns, Godwin has outperformed his contract. A third-round pick out of Penn State in the 2017 NFL draft, Godwin finally got his chance to shine and he did by putting up great numbers even though he missed the final two games with a hamstring injury.

Broncos | Joe Flacco slated for January MRI

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco (neck) is expected to undergo an MRI next month to determine whether or not he’ll need surgery on his injured neck.

Footballguys View: Flacco’s future is completely up in the air at this time. The veteran QB said he would be open to returning to the Broncos as Drew Lock’s backup but also hinted about the possibility he could retire if the results of the MRI are not positive.

Rams | Eric Weddle contemplating retirement?

Los Angeles Rams S Eric Weddle (shoulder, knee) has yet to make an official decision about his playing future, but he already knows he has no interest in returning to the team as a backup. He also noted that he has some injuries that need to get taken care of before he can make a firm decision to return for another season.’I’m not going to come back to be a backup, and that’s totally fine. That’s what I would expect them to do, and so, if that’s the case, then it will be it for me. … I think it’s a foregone conclusion. … We’ve got some good, young players. So, we’ll see. Nothing is set in stone, but I’ve had a great run. No regrets, baby,’ Weddle said.
