Minnesota Vikings DE Everson Griffen, an impending free agent, said Monday, Dec. 13 he has ‘maybe three or four’ more years left in his career, and he would like to stay in the Twin Cities. ‘I want to be a Viking for life,’ Griffen said, ‘but it’s a business, so we’ll figure that out when the time gets here.’

Seattle Seahawks LB Jadeveon Clowney went upstairs to general manager John Schneider’s office and told him how much he loves being with the team, head coach Pete Carroll said Monday, Jan. 13. There were reports earlier in the day that Clowney wants to sign with a Super Bowl contender.

Free-agent WR Dillon Mitchell (Vikings) signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Jan. 13. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson is due to count $14.156 million against the 2020 salary cap. Moving on from him would cost the Cardinals $16.2 million in dead money. Should the Cardinals wait until 2021 to part ways with Johnson, the dead money will be only $3 million with a savings of $9 million. Arizona would have to eat $6 million of remaining prorated signing bonus money if Johnson is traded.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles’ contract offers a potential out with the Jaguars eating $12.5 million in 2021 dead salary cap space and $6.25 million in 2022. The total savings would be $33.625 million over the two years. However, he’s essentially guaranteed a roster spot in 2020 with a penalty of $33.875 million in dead money should the Jaguars move on from him.

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) said he hopes to be ready for the start of training camp. He said the broken bone in his hip will heal without surgery and should not be a long-term issue.
