Dolphins | Miami has eyes on RBs early?

Ohio State RB J.K. Dobbins, as an update to previous reports, felt the Miami Dolphins really liked him following his in-person meeting with head coach Brian Flores and general manager Chris Grier in early March. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson believes the Dolphins are likely to take a running back during the first two days of the NFL Draft, possibly selecting Dobbins or Georgia RB D’Andre Swift at No. 26 overall. Or they may look to select LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor or FSU RB Cam Akers at 39th or 56th overall. Whichever back selected would then be paired with RB Jordan Howard as the team’s top-two backs.

Lions | Damon Harrison never wanted to play for Detroit

Free-agent DT Damon Harrison, who was released by the Detroit Lions earlier this year, said he was ‘hell-bent’ on getting out of Detroit. While on the non-football injury list for the first three weeks of training camp last season, Harrison said he was trying to facilitate a trade so he wouldn’t have to play for the Lions. Harrison was traded to Detroit by the New York Giants in October, 2018. When Harrison learned of the trade, he said he didn’t answer a call from Lions general manager Bob Quinn for a couple hours because he was trying to figure out a way to not play for Detroit. Harrison’s 49 tackles in 2019 were his lowest total since his rookie season; he noted he had a hard time focusing on football due to some health problems his wife was going through and spent a lot of time thinking about his future.

Patriots | New England will adjust to new QB

In life after Tom Brady, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said the team will adapt and gear everything for doing what is best for their new starting quarterback, whoever that may be. Belichick said that’s what they did previously for Brady and he doesn’t see that changing. ‘Whoever the quarterback is, we’ll try to make things work smoothly and efficiently for that player and take advantage of his strengths and his skills,’ Belichick noted. The Patriots currently have QBs Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer on roster. Belichick believes he and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels have a ‘pretty good feel for both’ quarterbacks. The team may also address the position in the upcoming NFL Draft, potentially early.
