Jaguars | DaVon Hamilton signs rookie deal

Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft choice DT DaVon Hamilton signed a four-year contract with the Jaguars Monday, June 29, worth $4.81 million. The deal includes a $1.065 million signing bonus.

Footballguys View: Hamilton only started three games for Ohio State entering the 2019 season. In 2019, he started 14 games for the Buckeyes and posted career-best numbers with 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks. At 320 pounds, Hamilton has first-step quickness and uses rip moves to apply interior pressure on opposing quarterbacks. He has violent striking hands and could work his way into the rotation quickly as an early-down defensive tackle.

Patriots | Cam Newton drew rave review

New England Patriots QB Cam Newton’s former offensive coordinator, Norv Turner, told Patriots head coach Bill Belichick that Newton was a great fit. ‘My whole deal is, when Cam was healthy, and we were there with him [in 2018], we were 6-2,’ Turner said. ‘His issue was more health than anything else, and from what I understand, I don’t think these are health issues that he can’t overcome. He’s had the time off now. I think he’ll be great.’
