San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) won’t start Sunday, Sept. 27, in a Week 3 game against the New York Giants due to an ankle injury, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday.
49ers | Nick Mullens to start Sunday
San Francisco 49ers QB Nick Mullens will start Sunday, Sept. 27, against the New York Giants, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday in a radio interview.
Colts | Jack Doyle practicing again
Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (knee) is participating in practice Friday, Sept. 25, for the second straight day.
Footballguys View: Doyle should be back this week but the emergence of Mo Alie-Cox last week makes the fantasy outlook for both tough to discern entering a matchup against the Jets, who gave up two scores to Jordan Reed last week. Both are rosterable in deep leagues, but neither is a safe play this week.
Jets | Jamison Crowder out for Week 3
New York Jets WR Jamison Crowder (hamstring) is out for Week 3.
Jets | Breshad Perriman out for Week 3
New York Jets WR Breshad Perriman (ankle) is out for Week 3.
Falcons | Julio Jones a game-time call
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hamstring) will be a game-time decision in Week 3.
Footballguys View: Russell Gage and Hayden Hurst could get more targets if Jones is out, and even if he is in, Jones could be a mere decoy, so he comes with more risk. Matt Ryan’s outlook dims a bit if Jones is out.
Falcons | Two Falcons out
Atlanta Falcons S Ricardo Allen (elbow) and CB Kendall Sheffield (foot) are out for Week 3.
Footballguys View: Allen being out should help Keanu Neal get closer to 100% of the snaps which helps him in IDP leagues.
Jaguars | Andrew Wingard’s injury not serious
Jacksonville Jaguars S Andrew Wingard (groin) is dealing with a minor groin pull and not a sports hernia.
Bills | Zack Moss out for Week 3
Buffalo Bills RB Zack Moss (toe) is out for Week 3, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
Footballguys View: Devin Singletary moves up to a high floor RB2 on this news, but his ceiling is lower because of Josh Allen’s penchant for finishing drives with his legs when the Bills are in close. Hopefully this isn’t a multi-week issue for Moss but if it is turf toe, it will probably require more than one week of rest.
