Lions | Jared Goff excited about new team

Incoming Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff said he is excited to be joining the Lions and believes he can help build a winning team. The Lions have agreed to acquire Goff from the Los Angeles Rams.

Footballguys View: Goff is happy to be with a team that wants him. Rams head coach Sean McVay and Goff had fallen out of favor, so a move was made to get rid of him. Now with the Lions, Goff will have two years to prove he can take that next step he couldn’t with the Rams. After the 2022 season, Goff has zero remaining in dead money and Detroit could move on.

Patriots | Matthew Stafford not interested in move to NE

Incoming Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford told the Detroit Lions that he was not interested in being traded to the New England Patriots, according to a source. The Lions have agreed to trade Stafford to the Rams.

Footballguys View: The rumblings were that Stafford wanted to play in warm weather…and that’s not going to happen in New England. He also just got through the Matt Patricia era in Detroit, so going to the Patriots (where Patricia returns as an assistant) does not make a ton of sense.
