Buccaneers | Leonard Fournette still in limbo

Free-agent RB Leonard Fournette (Buccaneers) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly made ‘no real headway’ in their contract talks, according to Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times.

Footballguys View: The Buccaneers have kept everyone on both sides of the ball this offseason. They now must figure out what they want to do with Fournette and WR Antonio Brown. If the trend of ‘keep everybody’ continues, that’s good news for both. Stay tuned.

Bears | Damien Williams headed to Chicago

Free-agent RB Damien Williams (Chiefs) reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday, March 24. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Footballguys View: It’s an interesting landing spot for Williams and he’s reunited with former Chiefs OC Matt Nagy. Fantasy GMs know this is bad for David Montgomery because he’s certainly not going to get the volume of opportunities he had last season. In addition to Williams signing, Tarik Cohen is coming back healthy in 2021 and will serve as a primary pass-catching weapon out of the backfield.

Patriots | James White back to Pats

Updating an earlier report, free-agent RB James White (Patriots) signed a one-year, $2.5 million fully guaranteed deal with the New England Patriots Wednesday, March 24.

Footballguys View: Many thought White would be reunited with QB Tom Brady and sign with the Buccaneers. That didn’t happen, so he sticks with the Patriots in a well-defined role. White has some deep flex appeal for Fantasy GMs in deeper leagues.

Vikings | Ameer Abdullah back to Vikings

Free-agent RB Ameer Abdullah (Vikings) agreed to an undisclosed deal Wednesday, March 24, to return to the Minnesota Vikings.

Footballguys View: The Vikings lost Mike Boone to the Broncos in free agency, so they needed to secure a no.3 running back. Abdullah is quick and gets to top speed in a hurry. He’s not the receiving threat that Boone was and is not a lock for the 53-man roster. Don’t be surprised if the Vikings add a running back late in the draft to compete behind Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison.
