Redskins | Third-down back position battle

Washington Redskins RB Roy Helu will receive competition from RBs Chris Thompson and Lache Seastrunk for the role of third-down running back. Helu is criticized for rarely getting more than what defenses give him, and the coaching regime who selected him out of college are no longer with the organization. It is expected Helu will win the job because the other two are unproven in pass-protection situations at the NFL level.

NFL | Jabari Greer not ready to return

Free-agent CB Jabari Greer (knee) is progressing really well, but does not expect to be able to work out of any teams in time for training camp. He tore his anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament and total posterior lateral compartment during a game Sunday, November 17, last season. However, his medial collateral ligament and meniscus remained perfectly healthy. Greer is not actively pursuing any opportunities to return to the NFL right now, and he will not attempt a comeback until he is 100 percent healthy. Currently, he can do everything in his rehab, but not at full speed.

Packers | Datone Jones and Mike Daniels will work in nickel packages

Green Bay Packers DE Datone Jones and DT Mike Daniels will tandem as the primary inside pass rushers in the nickel package. Jones would like to be a three-down player, but he has not carved out a role in obvious run situations. By his own admission, Jones relied too much on his quickness and athleticism last season rather than using his power. This year, he plans to attack offensive linemen with his strength in an effort improve upon his 3.5-sack rookie season.
