Bears | Christian Jones impressing

Chicago Bears LB Christian Jones has caught the attention of linebackers coach Reggie Herring. ‘We’ve got a young Jones player from Florida State, who is doing an incredible job and flashes and shows he has a chance to be a good player.’ Jones started at all three linebacker positions and then shifted to defensive end in his final season at Florida State. With his versatility, Jones could fight for time on the field if given a legitimate opportunity by the staff.

Bears | Two starting spots at linebacker up for grabs

Chicago Bears LB Lance Briggs is the only linebacker assured of starting, according to the coaching staff. Briggs will start at weakside linebacker. It is expected LB D.J. Williams will win the starting job at middle linebacker, and LBs Jonathan Bostic and Shea McClellin will compete to start at strongside linebacker. It is expected Bostic will start, because he is the superior athlete, whereas McClellin could end up in some sub packages as an extra pass rusher.

Cardinals | John Carlson impressing

Arizona Cardinals TE John Carlson has been the tight end who impressed the most during organized team activities and minicamp. Head coach Bruce Arians complimented Carlson’s ability to pick up the system quickly, his speed and hands, and he considers Carlson an adequate blocker. Arians wants physical tight ends who are capable blockers. Carlson will compete for targets with TEs Rob Housler, Jake Ballard and Troy Niklas (hand).
