Representatives from 30 NFL teams — including offensive line coaches from the Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars, tight end coaches from the Cincinnati Benagls, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers, and a defensive line coach from the Philadelphia Eagles — were on hand for North Carolina’s pro day on Tuesday. Representatives from 16 NFL teams were present in Ames, Iowa, for Iowa State’s pro day, where two potential NFL draft picks worked out. The workout — with the exception of the kicking drills — took place indoors on a FieldTurf playing surface. Jeremiah George, LB (5-foot-11, 228 pounds) — George ran the 40-yard dash in 4.66 and 4.68 seconds. Representatives from 27 NFL teams showed up at Massachusetts’ pro day on Tuesday, when 14 players worked out outdoors on FieldTurf in 32-degree temperatures. Unfortunately, the player those representatives were on hand to see didn’t work out. There were 30 NFL teams represented at Missouri Western State’s pro day on March 21, when five players from Missouri Western State and 18 other players from 10 different area small schools worked out indoors on FieldTurf. Representatives from eight NFL teams were at Maine’s pro day on Monday to check out cornerback Kendall James go through a workout indoors on FieldTurf. James (5-foot-10 1/2, 184 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.40 and 4.42 seconds. He also had a 10-foot broad jump. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. James had a good pro-day positional workout, displaying good recovery speed and instincts. He is a likely third-day selection (fifth- or sixth-rounder) in the 2014 NFL Draft. Jarrod “Pugs” Pughsley, OL (6-foot-4 1/2, 308 pounds) — Pughsley ran the 40-yard dash in 5.29 and 5.32 seconds. He had a 30-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot broad jump.
