Rodgers in a race against time

Progress? On Thursday, Aaron Rodgers — still recovring from a busted collarbone — said he would “need to take the majority of the reps” in Friday’s practice if we expect to see him on the field against the Cowboys. He reportedly looked and felt better today than he did earlier in the week. Rodgers owners simply need to pay close attention to this situation throughout the weekend, but even if he does return, he isn’t on auto-start status. It’s going to take him at least a week to get back up to speed. Use your backup plan, unless it’s a God-awful one. Back to our guy: Jay Cutler has been named Chicago’s Week 15 starter. Josh McCown averaged over 350 […]

Stewart, Gronk go on season-ending I.R.

Torn apart: So last night, I’m sitting at home watching the Panthers take on the Saints. Jonathan Stewart takes a play near the sidelines and gets hit low as he goes out of bounds. I swear to you on my soul that my very first thought was “Oh, no … for a guy who has suffered a ridiculous amount of foot injuries, that hit looked like a dangerous one to take. I hope he’s OK.” Nope. Wrong. Stewart limped off the field, and it turns out he has a torn MCL in his right knee. I feel badly for Stewart owners who took a chance on him, but I wouldn’t trust this guy to order a pizza without picking up […]

Easy trivia: Guess which RB is injured yet again?

We’ve heard this before: Water is wet. The sky is blue. And Darren McFadden missed Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury, this one supposedly having come against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving if head coach Dennis Allen is to believed. Oakland’s other RB Rashad Jennings actually did return to practice Wednesday after picking up a concussion on Thanksgiving. On one hand, you feel bad for McFadden since he seems to be cursed. But he’s been mostly useless for his owners throughout his career since he is incapable of staying on the field. Jennings is Oakland’s go-to guy for the rest of this season … and perhaps beyond. He’s got a nice matchup this week against a Jets defense that spends a […]

Browns down to last resort at QB?

Last resort: The Browns lost in embarrassing fashion at home to the Jaguars in Week 13. And while Brandon Weeden made some costly errors, he wasn’t really the main reason they lost this time. Josh Gordon gave Weeden a big assist in his big day, but now Weeden is under concussion protocol, which means it’s very possible the team will start newly acquired QB Alex Tanney, who is better known for his entertaining trick shot mastery than any NFL success. Tanney is the only healthy QB on Cleveland’s roster right now, so if you happen to have any experience playing QB and aren’t predisposed this Sunday. you might want to send your résumé down to the folks in Berea, OH. Anyhow, […]
