Vikings | Kene Nwangwu selected 4th round

Iowa State RB Kene Nwangwu on Saturday, May 1, was selected in the fourth round (119th overall pick) by the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL Draft.

Footballguys View: Nwangwu is a track star on the football field with explosive tendencies. His frame is maxed out at 210 pounds and he battled through injuries in college. Nwangwu is not a proven receiver out of the backfield but can work as a return man in the NFL.

Saints | Ian Book drafted by New Orleans

Notre Dame QB Ian Book on Saturday, May 1, was selected in the fourth round (133rd overall pick) by the New Orleans Saints in the NFL Draft.

Footballguys View: Book is a scrambler as a rusher and rough around the edges as a passer, so he’ll work as a Taysom Hill-like developmental prospect for the Saints. We’ll see if he can improve his passing skill with pro coaching.

Patriots | Pats draft RB Rhamondre Stevenson

University of Oklahoma RB Rhamondre Stevenson on Saturday, May 1, was selected by the New England Patriots in the fourth round (120th overall pick) of the NFL draft.

Footballguys View: Stevenson is a big-bodied back who can run through arm tackles in the open field. He should thrive between the tackles but he runs a bit too upright for that. Stevenson has the running style of a smaller back and needs to embrace his natural size as a runner.

Lions | Detroit snares Amon-Ra St. Brown

USC WR Amon-Ra St. Brown on Saturday, May 1, was selected by the Detroit Lions in the fourth round (112th overall pick) of the NFL Draft.

Footballguys View: After the 2019 season, St. Brown was seen as a potential first-round pick. He worked primarily out of the slot that year and shined. In 2020, St. Brown moved outside and didn’t have the same success. That talent and savvy is still there as a route-runner. St. Brown should be considered a solid player who can make plays from the slot. The Lions have a thin wide receiver room, so the rookie has a chance to make an early impression.

Titans | Dez Fitzpatrick selected by Tennessee

University of Louisville WR Dez Fitzpatrick on Saturday, May 1, was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round (109th overall pick) of the NFL Draft.

Footballguys View: The Titans needed to add to the wide receiver room, and Fitzpatrick is a solid pick for them. He’s not overly fast or quick but he is reliable. Over 72 percent of his catches went for a touchdown or a first down over the last two seasons.

Jets | Jets draft Michael Carter

North Carolina RB Michael Carter was selected by the New York Jets on Saturday, May 1, in the fourth round (107th overall pick) of the NFL Draft.

Footballguys View: Carter is a big-play back who can attack a defense with speed. He is a sharp runner who can cut on a dime and work as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. Carter struggles in pass protection and will need to improve in that department if he wants to earn a larger role.
